What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy combines an understanding of how the mind works with the use of hypnosis to bring about positive changes in attitudes, behaviour and reactions. Beneficial results are often achieved more quickly with hypnotherapy than with other therapies.

Hypnosis is a state of highly focused attention which enables you to create changes in your life. It is a normal, relaxed state of mind and is sometimes called trance. We go in and out of trance throughout the day – sometimes we daydream, watch the TV or read a book and lose track of time, sometimes we drive along a familiar route but being deep in thought we don’t recall the journey.

During hypnosis the therapist guides you into a deep and pleasantly relaxed state in which you are able to use your imagination more freely and effectively than usual. This safe and relaxed state of being enables you to free yourself from self limiting thoughts and to accept that positive change in your attitudes and behaviour can occur. You always remain fully in control. No one can be hypnotised against their will.
